Finally graduate from breastfeeding (18.5 mos)

Pheww after so much effort for 10 days finally Tromson has graduated from breastfeeding
He now can sleep on his own day or night.
In the day, he could nap for 3 hours without any pacifying and at night also.

But this few days, he couldn't sleep well at night, I bet he has teething for last wisdom teeth.
Hopefully it's over soon

Breastfeeding weaning breakthrough (18.5 mos)

Phewww finally, mommy has decided that this is the right time for him to learn self soothe without breast.
So starting over the weekend, Tromson slept with papa and it's difficult for him to settle down and he woke up several times at night.
But miracle happened last night, after family praying, I put the holy water to tromson forehead and pray so that Mother Mary protects him from nightmare and keeps an eye on him so he can sleep through till morning.

Then I also told him please don't look for mommy, let your papa sleep peacefully also
Mommy was so worried that he still wakes up several times and disturb papa's sleep because papa needs to work in the morning

Praise God, at 5.30am, papa came to koko's room where mommy slept over there and woke mommy up to accompany Tromson since papa needed to bath and went to church afterwards
And when mommy asked papa how's last night. Papa said it's good, he basically didn't really wake up, he just open his eyes to check whether anyone accompanied him

The night after, he cried for almost 15 minutes around 1am and papa has been trying to calm him down by carrying around or cuddling but it didn't work. So papa let him cry until he's tired

On the day during the nap, he cried for almost half an hour before finally settling down by himself
It took 1 hour for him to settle down without any pacifying effort

Keep it up Tromson ! I know you can do it !

Drinking milk and juice from straw

Since mommy starts weaning Tromson from breastfeeding, mommy also let him drink fresh milk and juice from straw and voila...he can drink it within 5 minutes
Especially in the morning, he can finish 200cc fresh milk in one go using a straw

3 - 4 hours...

Yeay...finally he knows himself haha...
Now he drinks every 3 - 4 hours, even mostly is 4 hours now.
So mommy can go to gym with easy mind now and not to rush to go back home too.
At night he wakes up mostly 2x ard 1 - 1.30 am and 4 - 5am, mommy has longer sleep as well.

Today, he has new habit by biting my nipple while nursing, so I need to press his nose a bit to stop him haizzz

Koko Richie drinks expressed breastmilk from cup and Tromson latches on directly.
Both my precious has drinken the best milk in the world

Full breastfeed (7 weeks)

Blessing in disguise, I would say
Because mommy's breastpump is spoilt, mommy has no choice besides hand express
And the wonder of hand express is it's stimulating more milk then using electric breast pump
Yes, it takes a lot of efforts and time but somehow it produces more milk
Well I guess it's skin to skin effect

And because mommy's breast feel full eventhough not until engorged, mommy just want to empty the breast by direct lactating so no formula milk yet for this few days.

Yesterday, mommy was busy so mommy asked daddy to feed Tromson with formula bottlefed.
He had nipple confusion and only half bottle, he vomited...Oh sigh...

So mommy had no choice to breastfeed him and managed to put him to sleep for 3 hours yeayy...

6 weeks - breastfeeding progress

So far mommy has made great progress for breastmilk production. Mommy can now fully breastfeeding Tromson but still hasn't been able to get the excess yet for future storing.
Mommy still gave Tromson 1 formula feed a day around 135cc so he used to other taste beside breastmilk.
Lesson learnt from Richie where he's fully breastfed and problem comes after weaning that he rejected all milk

So far, Tromson still accepts bottlefed, hopefully he will not reject bottlefed too.

5 Weeks breastfeeding Progress

Coming to 5 weeks, breastfeeding has reached to 90%, mommy still needs to top up formula 1 - 2x a day which is 120cc per feed.
I guess it has been great improvement that mommy's breastmilk starts building up and hopefully 2 more weeks he will be fully breastfed

His feeding is every 2 hours now

Happy 2 weeks old

It has been 2 weeks old, his weight is around 3.9kg up around 300g from last week.
His milk intake has increased too. He still needs formula top up though around 90cc after finishing 2 breasts.
And mommy's production has increased too eventhough still can't catch up with his needs yet.
When mommy expresses the breast milk, mommy gets around 100cc for two breasts

So far he still can latch on and bottle fed. Hopefully he's not picky like his koko.

Another development is he starts to open his eyes eventhough it's still not fully opened yet and his eyes sight still limited but he can differentiate the daylight and night, and his eyes follows the moving objects too.

Breastfeeding Challenge

Like koko Richie, mommy also struggles with breastfeeding. The first 3 days, Tromson received Colostrum from mommy's breast but he has different character from koko Richie.
He likes to sleep a lot and will ignore mommy's offer to breastfeed him that's why the production of breastmilk is not as much as last time.

Learn from the past, mommy was not so idealist with total breastfeeding this time round. Mommy was more concern with jaundice level if Tromson didn't receive enough milk. That's why in the last 2 days at hospital when the jaundice started to appear in his face, mommy realized that mommy's breastmilk was not enough, mommy asked the nurse to top up with formula by cup feeding and mommy chose Nan Pro 1

Thanks God, Tromson only has low level of jaundice as this few days the weather are not so good.
It's almost raining every morning that's why mommy never sunbathes him.

Back at home, mommy's milk is still not enough therefore mommy still needs to top up with formula after breastfeeding.
He can finish breastmilk from 2 breasts in one go and need to be fed another 60 - 75cc of formula.
And his jaundice has disappeared too.

Hopefully mommy's milk catches up with his need soon.
